Annual General Meeting 2010
At the OBAGS Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 28 November, 2010 the Committee was re-elected en bloc. Maurice Bates confirmed that this would be his last year as Chairman.
The membership fee remains at £4 for the 2011 season.
The following dates were agreed for the coming season:
Tidy Up and Maintenance, Trading Huts - 09 & 10 April, 2011
Annual Plant Sale - 15 May, 2011
Barbecue at the Trading Huts, 10 July, 2011 - more to follow.
Annual General Meeting - 27 November, 2011
The Electricity Company had been asked for a quote to provide a power supply to the Trading Huts from the Tennis Club. The estimate of c £3.5k was deemed too high to proceed with. The Company confirmed that they alone were authorised to carry out such work.
Once again there had been a spate of thefts from allotment sheds early in the Spring. Members should consider keeping expensive equipment at home, especially at that time of year.
In an effort to make the website more informative, and to improve social interaction, Irene Allaway’s Gardening Notes, published monthly in the Basinga, have been reproduced on the website through 2010; a Members’ Favourite Recipe collection has been started; from 2011 members who are self-employed and provide goods or services likely to be useful to other members, will be able to advertise on the website for a modest annual fee.
It was agreed that the Trading Huts would be open twice in October, 2011, and a week later than normal in November, 2011 (13th) to facilitate the distribution of seed orders.
It was reported that allotment holders at Riley Lane were being issued with revised tenancy agreements with some potentially contentious new clauses, e.g. that cultivation of flowers should not exceed 10% of the growing area.
It was agreed that there would be a greater effort to be involved with the Village Show next year. The inaugural ‘Edible Garden Show’, sponsored by NSALG, postponed from 2010, will be held in March 2011.
